AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ecclesiastes 3:14 I know that whatever God does, it endures forever; nothing can be added to it nor can anything be taken from it, for God does it so that men will fear and worship Him [with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is God]. [Ps 19:9; James 1:17] |
Subject: How I first came to Christ |
Bible Note: Ecclesiates 3:14 "I know that everything God does will remain forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it, for God has so worked that men should fear Him." The following is how I came to be saved almost 20 years ago... When I was a 7 year old boy whose father was a United Methodist Pastor, living in rural Northwest Arkansas at the time, I found myself with a bit of spare time on my hands after finishing my homework from school one weekday; and for what turned out to be a life-changing moment, I 'unconsciously' reached towards this book, called the "Bible", with a curiousity that I had not known before.. I opened it up and immediately began to think to myself, as a young intellectual, whose main talents at the time were playing strategy games and spending time at the local Arcade playing an Atari: Why am I here? Why am I here? What is there to life, REALLY? Sure, you can get married, get a good job, even buy a car or two.. But, what then? And what after that? Why are we here? And for what purpose is there to life? Outside of God's Holy Word, I could not find a purpose for life.. And then, I immediately was "arrested" with the conclusion that that was just it- that God was the 'answer' to my question! Only He could give life meaning, and that He is the reason for this life, and for the purpose that we all have for being here. Once I was ultimately "arrested" with that truth, and came to a clear understanding that God also loved me, and created me for a Purpose, then I became totally and irrevocably changed forever, never to look back! What is my purpose in life now, one might ask? My purpose in life is to Advance the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ! (Matthew 28:18-20) All Christians have a Purpose, and should be "purpose driven" people, as opposed to those who really do not have a purpose, and who may be still searching for that purpose. - Makarios |
