NASB | Proverbs 30:9 That I not be full and deny You and say, "Who is the LORD?" Or that I not be in want and steal, And profane the name of my God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Proverbs 30:9 So that I will not be full and deny You and say, "Who is the LORD?" Or that I will not be poor and steal, And so profane the name of my God. [Deut 8:12, 14, 17; Neh 9:25, 26; Job 31:24; Hos 13:6] |
Bible Question (short): Thou shalt not use thy Lords namein vain |
Question (full): If I were to say "Oh my God" in a happy or excited way, is that still using the Lords name in vain? Or is it only when you say it with anger or frustration? I realize that this may be a silly question, but I do this and wonder after the fact if I just used His name in vain and then say "Oh my God I'm sorry Lord" and use it again! |
