My ESV translation gives this for Proverbs 10:22: "The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.[a]" For note a, it gives this: "Or and toil adds nothing to it" How did those two different translations come about? It seems to me the noted alternative indicates that working hard does add the riches of God's blessings. |
Bible Answer: Hi, Justin... The Hebrew word translated toil or labor have their root in the word for the travail of childbirth or the work in the soil to produce fruit. The blessing from the Lord are untainted by such struggle. In Him, Doc |
