Bible Question: I am in a Bible study group and we are studying the life of Christ. This is not a question asked in the study group but one I need to know . I am not new to the Bible stories but I cant recall why in the Old Testament when they pray in the temple do they burn incense? I know it is mentioned over a hundred times, about burning incense while praying. I also know that this is an aroma pleasing to God and I believe he has even given to some the ingredients for incense. I just cant find out why this is accepted thing to do...I would appreciate any help on this. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide...cloud9799

Bible Answer: Incense was used by priests, the old testament was a forerunner for the new testament. Only priests were to burn incense. My understanding is this, we are a chosen generation a royal priesthood a holy nation......Incense has a sweet aroma, incense means "Prayer" made of acacia wood, when we persevere in prayer, we put down the flesh(wood) and we fulfill our priesthood. Mau God help us fulfill our destiny a priests not only for our families but for our Nation and the world. There are many references to priesthood , prayer and incense. Look it up in a concordance, its a great study.
