AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 27:21 "In the Tent of Meeting [of God with His people], outside the veil which is in front of the [ark of the] Testimony [and sets it apart], Aaron [the high priest] and his sons shall keep the lamp burning from evening to morning before the LORD. It shall be a perpetual statute [to be observed] throughout their generations on behalf of the Israelites. |
Bible Question: what is the meaning of the lamps my be kept burning continually in Exodus 27:19-21 and Leviticus 24:2and does these scriptures have anything to do with Matthew 25:1-13 |
Bible Answer: The lamps were symbolic of God's people; the church. Example of lamps being the church: Mat 5:14 You are the light of the world. Rev 1:20 ....the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches. Oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The lamps were the only light in the tabernacle and were to be trimmed and filled daily with special prepared oil. God’s people are the light in the world and we are to be constantly trimmed and re-filled with the Holy Spirit. In Zechariah chapter 4, Zechariah had a vision about the lampstands in the temple he had been commissioned to rebuild. He saw lampstands that had a never ending supply of oil. Zec 4:6 says “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” Says the LORD. Might and power here are referring to our own mental, physical, and materialistic capabilities. God is saying any work for Him will only be accomplished by the Spirit of God working through His people. Jesus Lives, retxar |
