Bible Question:
Topic: Suicide I was always taught as a child that suicide was an unforgiveable sin, however, I can't find that in the scriptures anywhere. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? |
Bible Answer: Dear Eli, The Bible says (Ex 20:13) "You shall not murder." so we know of course that suicide, self-murder, is a sin. But nowhere does the Bible say that it is an unforgivable sin. Matt 12:31 "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven." There is only this one sin that shall not be forgiven, and this is not suicide. Please forgive my asking, are you thinking about committing suicide? If you are, I would like to pray for you, and just share God's love with you. Love in Christ, Mark |
