NASB | Exodus 2:21 Moses was willing to dwell with the man, and he gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 2:21 Moses was willing to remain with the man, and he gave Moses his daughter Zipporah [to be his wife]. |
Subject: Who was Zipporah father |
Bible Note: EdB, that is a great question. I took it from Numbers 12.1 "Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman)", which the NASB cross-references to Zipporah in Exo 2.21. The Cushites were an Eastern African tribe of Southern Egypt. I'd always assumed they were Ethiopian. The OT is apparently vague on the Midianite-Cushite background of Moses' wife. Either Moses had another wife, a Cushite, in Num 12.1 or she was the one and only Zipporah. I'm stumped on this one, EdB Colin |
