Subject: Why seek healing for this flesh? |
Bible Note: Hi David! I understand this completely. Out of a desire to be obedient to God's Word, we did have a healing service for our son; it was beautiful. Yet when I was "laid aside," did I seek healing for myself? NO! How silly! Actually, a dear friend "called me on it," when she asked directly if I had sought to be annointed. Well, to make a long story short, I was obedient in this. At the time, I was in constant pain, on pain meds round the clock and basically flat on my back - I had been suffering for at least 4 weeks when I finally sought healing for myself. While I experienced no "bells or whistles" the time of prayer was sweet. However, the next morning, I woke up pain free and my recovery was swift. I Praise God for His deliverance yet I am always hesitant to share this because I firmly believe that although God CAN heal, in His sovereignty, He does not always choose to exercise this power. The following quote has served as an encouragement to me when I question WHAT God is doing or not doing in my life or in the lives of others! "When God removes a thorn from our lives it is to demonstrate His supremacy and when He allows a thorn to remain in our lives it is to demonstrate His sufficiency." (Beth Moore) Also, any disappointment that we experience is God's hint to us that He has something better in mind! Although written for the remnant of Israel, we too can take comfort in these words: 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
