Bible Question:
Dear Forum Family, Blessed be the name of the Lord our God and His Son Jesus Christ forever more! Praise the Lord for His love and mercy and grace! Praise the Lord for He is good to His children! Praise the Lord for His patience with His children! Let everything that has breath praise the name of the Lord! Praise Him from the mountain tops! Praise Him from the valleys! praise Him! It's been quite a while since I've visited. Without going into any long details, I have been very busy! I have a question for those of you who are my elders and my brothers and my sisters on this forum (I pray that those of you whom I consider my elders or Brothers or Sisters know who you are.) Here it is. Even though this body I have been given is in great shape (I spend at least ten hours per week excercising it and the doctor tells me "I wish all of my patients were in as good of shape as your are, except for....."), there exists a cuouple of malfunctions. Sparing you all of the details, I was taken from my office to the emergency room on Wednesday morning. Woops! Got so caught up in all of that, I almost almost strayed away from posting my question! WHY SEEK HEALING FOR THIS BODY? Please, please don't get me wrong. I get annual physicals and that on my own, it is not required for my permenant illnesses. And, I do always go to my physician when having problems. When I read the holy word of the Lord my God I so desire to be with Him in His kingdom! Again, don't misunderstand me please, I haven't gone off my rocker, not yet anyway. Why seek healing for this flesh that will not inherit the kingdom of God? I know that the Lord our God has blessed us with some very good doctors, but, I'm having difficulty understanding the purpose. Honestly, it seems sometimes that the closer I am to death, the happier I am because I will be with the Lord forever. Again, I'm NOT CRAZY! Never the less, If here (on earth) is where His desire is for me, then here I am happy to be. Blessed be the Lord forever! I posted a couple of scriptures below. Please I pray you my friends, help me understand through the word of the Lord our God. I am thankful for each one of you! Bless you as you prayerfully consider your answer(s) to me. Your input is very important to me on this issue. Col 3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Phil 1:23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; I always pray for you my friends. Always your brother in Christ Jesus our Lord, David (Cyclist) I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |
Bible Answer: Greetings Cyclist! When our teenage son, also named David, was undergoing treatment for cancer, he made an observation that has continued to encourage and comfort me. Perhaps it will you too! We had a habit of reading from God's Word just before bedtime. This particular evening, he was too ill to read so I read to him. We were in Ephesians 2. After I finished, I asked him which verse stood out to him and he replied, "That workmanship verse." How stange I thought to myself. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God has prepared in advance for us to do." So, I asked my son why this verse was important to him and he said, "This verse tells me that God has a plan for my life." "How do you know that, David?" I asked, And without missing a beat he said, "Because I'm still here!" He continued, "If your work for God is done, you should be happy to go home to heaven." "Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10 “Because I am still here.” These were our son David’s words to express his confidence in God’s plan for his life. He is still here; his work is not finished yet! He has “being” in this present life, for God has ordained it. In light of this, God’s command to “Be still” reminds us of God’s sovereignty over life. Each day we are permitted to draw breath is a God-given privilege. It is also an opportunity to be obedient - show our love for the Giver of life. Notice in this verse that there is a reason for the continuity of our existent – of “being still.” God commands us to know that HE is God! Each day brings with it a chance for us to know more about God. Our being is not necessary for God; He knows all about us. There is nothing hidden from Him nor anything new we can tell Him that He doesn’t already know ompletely. “Being still” is God’s gift for us to know Him! Blessings in Him! Your sister, mommapbs PS: Just as we fill our cars with gas or make repairs so that they will continue to serve the purpose for which they were designed, we too should take care of these earthly bodies; for they are the instruments that God uses to carry out His purposes too. So while you are "still here," take care of what God has given you so that He can be about His work through you! |
