Bible Question:
Brothers and Sisters, I truly love this verse! I heard something, though, from my mother-in-law about this verse that I wanted to clarify. She says that when spiritual warfare is at it's worse, praise the Lord!! (Which I believe she is correct- we should always praise the Holy One, no matter what the situation.) But the comment she made was this "When we praise the Lord and begin to worship, Satan flees." Is this Biblical?? I do know that Satan can be in the Presence of the Lord (in Job), but I do not know of any verse supporting this comment. I do realize though that she could be referencing to the fact that it so upsets Satan to see and hear glory given to God that he hightails it out of there! Anyway, verses or comments are appreciated!! God bless and shine His countenance upon you all! hidden in Christ, Lissa |
Bible Answer: Hi, Lissa! Praising the Lord is powerful... but I liken just saying the words or singing a song/psalm or quoting Scipture devoid of Faith and submission to God's Authority as a non-believer holding a cross in front of Count Dracula (yes I know he is a fictitious character from a book which later was made into a movie, and later still into even more movies...); yet the premise is the same: If we claim to be children of the Light we must walk in the Light in order for that claim to be effective! (1 John 1:5-7; 2 John 2:9-11) But to rely on some sort of shortcut or formula that compels God to protect us or that bounds Satan from doing any harm is to play with fire--no matter how well-intended we will get burnt! Jesus said that not all who call Him "Lord" will enter into the Kingdom (Matthew 7:21-23 and Luke 6:46); we are Commanded to abide in Him (John 15:5-6) so that He may abide in us! James tells us that the prayer of Faith can do anything (James 5:15-18)... so calling on the Lord can cause Satan to flee from us... but only if we are abiding in Him!: There is nothing I cannot do in the One who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13) God Bless! Angel |
