Bible Question (short): Is Bankruptcy Stealing? |
Question (full): Does God view bankruptcy as a legal form of stealing? The Bible instructs us, "Owe no man". I was head over hills in credit card debt which I could see no way out for many years. I had closed one department store card for approximately 3 years and, after such time, the balance reduced only approximately 500 with still an outstanding balance of 2,300. This particular credit card creditor charged an unreasonable and unfair amount of interest as did most the others. Another card creditor was closed for approximately 5 years to which the balance only reduced approximately 500 with an outstanding balance of 800. I feel these creditors have been paid for the merchandise, but the outstanding balance is pure interest which is stealing, in my opinion, from consumers. Do I attempt to pay these creditors one by one? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you. God bless you. |
