Subject: Is the KJV "Supreme"? |
Bible Note: Dear Hank, I agree! The KJV will always stand alone in history as the first English Bible! What an excellent way to represent the English language.. You have made reference to a few verses, and I'll put them side by side with the NASB equivalent just to see how far English has come in 400 years. (KJV) Psalm 5:6 "Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man." (NASB) Psalm 5:6 "You destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit." (KJV) 1 Kings 11:1 "But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;" (NASB) 1 Kings 11:1 "Now King Solomon loved many foreign women along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women," (KJV) Ezekiel 27:25 "The ships of Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas." (NASB) Ezekiel 27:25 "The ships of Tarshish were the carriers for your merchandise. And you were filled and were very glorious In the heart of the seas." Indeed, the KJV can retire alongside the Vulgate, receiving its due share of unprecedented fame and grandeur, leaving a legacy that will never be matched.. Leaving the scene for these new translations to make their way. --Nolan |
