Subject: Is sickness from satan? |
Bible Note: NWord We live in a fallen world. Sickness exists in it. If we get sick did Satan do it? Yes in effect he did, he tempted Eve in the garden and sin entered the world and the ravishes of sin effect this fallen world. So in those terms Satan does cause sickness. However there is passages in scripture that clearly show God brings sickness. Exodus 4:11 The Lord said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Leviticus 26:14-16 'But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments, [15] if, instead, you reject My statutes, and if your soul abhors My ordinances so as not to carry out all My commandments, and so break My covenant, [16] I, in turn, will do this to you: I will appoint over you a sudden terror, consumption and fever that will waste away the eyes and cause the soul to pine away; also, you will sow your seed uselessly, for your enemies will eat it up. Deut. 28:59 then the Lord will bring extraordinary plagues on you and your descendants, even severe and lasting plagues, and miserable and chronic sicknesses. John 9:2-3 And His disciples asked Him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?" [3] Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him. The word also tells us God heals our afflictions and diseases. Psalm 107:20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. Exodus 15:26 And He said, "If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer." James 5:14-15 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; [15] and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. However no where in the word does it say God will heal everyone, all the time. The fact remain we all die, death is result of some disease upon our body. Therefore each and everyone of us will die of some disease unless the Lord returns before we are overcome by death. In fact God’s word show us some in the early church had lingering sicknesses that were not healed. 1 Tim. 5:23 No longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments. Scripture shows even Paul got sick Galatians 4:13 but you know that it was because of a bodily illness that I preached the gospel to you the first time; While we do not know the illness he mentioned he does allude to problems with his eyes in Galatians 4:14-15 and that which was a trial to you in my bodily condition you did not despise or loathe, but you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus Himself. [15] Where then is that sense of blessing you had? For I bear you witness that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me. And later in Galatians 6:11 See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. Paul indicates he is having problems with his eyes. Many feel this is the thorn in the flesh that Paul referred to in 2 Cor. 12:7 Does God heal today? Yes he does! Is every healing from God? Yes! Does God always Heal today? No, not always! Why? I have no clue but this I know. Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. I trust in God in sickness and in health, He is more than sufficient to see me through. EdB |
