NASB | Esther 9:1 Now in the twelfth month (that is, the month Adar), on the thirteenth day when the king's command and edict were about to be executed, on the day when the enemies of the Jews hoped to gain the mastery over them, it was turned to the contrary so that the Jews themselves gained the mastery over those who hated them. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Esther 9:1 Now in the twelfth month (that is, the month of Adar) on the thirteenth day when the king's command and edict were about to be executed, on the [very] day when the enemies of the Jews had hoped to gain power over them [and slaughter them], it happened the other way around so that the Jews themselves gained power over those who hated them. |
Bible Question (short): why was no spoil taken in Esther 9 |
Question (full): I'm studying Esther. In Esther Chapter 9 Verses 10, 15 and 16, it says that the Jews slew their enemies but did not take the spoil. It interests me that this is spoken three times. I usually pay attention when anything is repeated (from the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses a thing is established). Does anyone have any thoughts as to the significance of this? |
