Subject: Explanation on 1 John 5:7-8 please? |
Bible Note: Greetings Ray! I'm not touching the numbers arugment! :-) Concerning your other points, the text actually flows quite well without the disputed text. It would read: 1 John 5:7 - "There are three who witness; 8 the Spirit, and the water, and the blood, and these three are in agreement." Thus, the agreement part refers back to the Spirit, water, and blood. I guess my biggest question is: How could we include something that is only found in four manuscripts (all dated after the 15th century) out of thousands of Greek manuscripts. This even violates the priciples upon which the Received and Majority texts were based upon - that manuscripts should be counted, not weighed. Well, I'm going to bed. I was just curious!
