Subject: Questions to ask while Reading the Word |
Bible Note: Quite interesting concept. I believe different people may say to a pastor that the verse in the sermon touched them that day, and in unconnected scenarios. One may be touched by the Spirit in thoughts on a particular verb and another on a certain noun. But there is something called parabolic constancy that we should all be concerned with. I heard a preacher once who thought he was teaching on the parable where a man found a great treasure in a field and he gave everything to be able to go and buy the field. This pastor was telling us that he himself did the same and had also bought the field. That is when I knew I was listening to a false teacher. This was many years ago so please forgive my foggy recollection but following the parable is Jesus' explanation as to its meaning. The field, is said to be the world. Taking the law of constancy into consideration, everytime the field is spoken of, it will refer to the world. Does this sound right? |
