Bible Question: My question about hebrews is from the chapter 12verse 22,23 cant they be explained |
Bible Answer: The mountain is which God came down on in the old testiment was to be revered and not touch, suggesting that none were holy enough to Approach God. But Hebrews is saying here that because of Jesus' sacrifice, we could no fully come to God, using the mountain as a imagery. Instead of an untouchable mountain, we have a new Mountain, Mount Zion, in which God is sitting and we can come to Him. Of course this mountain is not a literal, physical mountain. As far as what is being said in verse 23, and the referance to the church of "The First Born" refering to us, "The Body of Christ" An our sanctification being made "perfect" in order to be able to approach God, the Judge of all men. |
