Subject: How do you feel about the Ten Commandmen |
Bible Note: Thank you Fmp for your responses, I really appreciate it, as it gives me opportunity to demonstrate the reason for my faith. I completely agree with you, Matthew, Mark, and Luke that God does not want us to worship two (opposing) laws at the same time. Mark 3:24-26 “And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.” If you live by the New Testament law you by default are living by the Old Testament law as well. They are one in the same. Matthew 5 is a wonderful example of this. And yes, the 4th commandment law was included in the New Testament and is most definitely part of that everlasting gospel. (See Hebrews 4:4, 8, 9 - Revelation 14:6, 7, 12 - note the similarities here to the 4th commandment of Exodus 20:8, 10, 11). But I will not dwell on that. The one thing that stood out to me in your last reply was your statement “I say go ahead an worship any way you desire.” With great respect, worship is THE topic of the Bible, as well as Jesus. The Bible begins with controversy over the "way" to worship in Genesis, and ends in a battle over who is worshipped in Revelation. And even before Eden, worship was the centre point of Lucifers rebellion in Heaven. Ezekiel 28:17 tells us that his heart was lifted up because of his beauty and his brightness. We are also told of him “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” Isa 14:13, 14. Lucifer's whole desire is to draw worship away from God and to himself, and what better way to do this than to draw us away from our day of rest and ‘convocation’ with God? Genesis 2:3 “And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it:” Exodus 20:11 “the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 35:2 “the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD:” Leviticus 23:3 “: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation;” Clearly it is the seventh day that has been blessed, sanctified, and made a holy convocation; No other day can claim this. (I do apologise, I did say I would not dwell). I pray though, that we all "desire" to “worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters” Rev 14:7. |
