Bible Question: Do the laws of fornication in the bible apply to the times of today? They state that the only reason a divorce is justifiable is in the case of adultery, what about all the other horrible things that can happen in ones marriage? i.e. abuse, threatening ones life, etc. |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Matt 19:1-12; Mark 10:1-12; 1 Cor 7:12-16 ... vjeffers@ipcl.com, Greetings. This has been previously discussed. Use Quick Search and type [divorce] ... you'll get more than you want. In Matthew 19:1-12 and Mark 10:1-12 divorce is granted because of the HARDNESS of the heart (Matt 19:8, Mark 10:5) of the "innocent" person. I contend that adultery doesn't justify divorce. If there is a divorce, neither may remmary to someone else. It would cause the other person to commit adultery. The only grounds that divorce is justified, is if the unbeliever leaves and the unbeliever files for divorce (1 Cor 7:12-16). Hope this helps.Searcher |
