Bible Note: Dear justme, This practice of women wearing head covering was clearly given rise from the doctrine of 1 Corinthians 11 in a specific cultural and historic context. Orthopraxy must always be rooted in orthodoxy. If the doctrine of right submission is not understood, the heart issues will be bypassed, making any practice worse than worthless. It really doesn't matter if I as a man, remove my hat to go into a church -- or put one on to go into a Synagogue, for that matter -- if I am not in right standing with God; all the practice will do is make some men happy and other men unhappy. That and five bucks will buy you a Starbucks. :-) Let me repeat: Get the doctrine right, then the practice will rightly fall out in a culturally appropriate manner. In Him, Doc |
