Bible Question: Please explain Paul's letter in Romans 1-3. |
Bible Answer: There is several things that Romans 1-3 speaks about. Paul says that the existance of God has been clearly revealed to anyone who is really seeking Him by His creation, but man chose to worship the creation instead of the creator (the gift instead of the giver). Because of the gift of "free will" given to mankind by God, mankind was permitted to continue in all kinds of sins of passions, lusts and perversions even to leave the natural order of His creation of a man and woman. Because of mankind's unbrideled sinful desires, God gave the law through Moses to expose what was sin and show that everyone was already living in sin. Even the ones who knew and maybe enforced the law among the people, would break the law when it was to their benefit. How could they judge others? God gave the law through the Jewish people, but that didn't make the Jewish people any less or more of a sinner than the rest of the World. It just made them aware of their sinfulness first. All who have sinned will perish, whether we know and live under the law or whether we are ignorant of the law. The law is there just to reveal our sins and in contrast show us the rightious judgement of God. God has also revealed another aspect of His rightiousness, His grace. Through His Son Jesus Christ, the image of Himself, incarnated as a human (Because He is God, He did not have to live under the law, but being human he did not surcome to temptation to commit sin. Even as a human, His desire to please the Father was greater than anything this world and Satan could offer as temptation)and taking all of mankinds sins upon himself. He presented His sinless human life as a sacrifice to God the Father for the sins of mankind. By the glory of His resurection we know that His sacrifice was accepted by the Father. Now through faith in the redemption (purchase) that has been made by Jesus at the cross, we are justified before the Father and even made heirs. God the Father has provided a way that He can "pass over" (or overlook)our sins that have been exposed by His law. |
