Subject: evidence being filled with holy spirit |
Bible Note: Thanks for your comments. I get the feeling that your answer means that you probably attend a church where it is stated in the doctrine/beliefs that the "signs" gifts have ceased with the apostles. I am sure you know that many people who were not apostles are mentioned in the Bible as having these sign gifts. As far as spiritual gifts being temporal......when Jesus returns, we won't need the gift of tongues or any other special gifts, and all will be perfect for those who will reside in heaven. Also, salvation and the baptism in the Holy Spirit are two seperate and distinct things, with the evidence of tongues not being the same as the gift of tongues, although a person may receive that particular gift. Anyway, I am not sure of your intent with your reply. What exactly are you saying? Are some spiritual gifts no longer given? If so, how do you biblically defend that? How do you explain the many accounts in Acts where the receiving of the Holy Spirit, and the initial evidence of tongues, is directly and indirectly mentioned? What is the explanation of these passages of scripture? I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks again for your comments. John R |
