Subject: Torn veil of Mat 15.38 the literal veil? |
Bible Note: Greetings graftedin, BTW, I love your screen name. The 'grafted in' symbol is also my favorite!! There are a few more instances recorded in the Gospels that, to my knowledge, are not corraborated in non-Biblical sources such as the slaughter of the innocents in Mt. 2:16 (perhaps there were too few babies killed in the historians' minds to be noteworthy?). And to my knowledge there was no such custom, as stated in Mt. 27:15, at Passover of releasing a prisoner (could the offer between Barabbas and Yeshua/Jesus have been the first and then became a custom, so old at the writing of the gospel that Matthew overlooked the fact that it actually was the first time it had happened?). Just because Mt. 27:51 and Mk. 15:38 is not noted in extra-Biblical sources does not mean it didn't happen. I think we're mighty fortunate to have the information that we do have as so many people would have had the whole Bible destroyed many times over if they'd had their way about it!! :o) Cheri |
