Bible Question: I have been a Christian for about 25 years and was taught that we pray to God through Jesus Christ His Son (ie, in Jesus' name I pray). I have been asked why I do this and why I do not pray directly to God. I assume there is Biblical authority for this, but I have been unable to find it. Thanks for your help. - kak |
Bible Answer: kak: Welcome to the Forum! Matthew 21:22 has some thing that many take out of context. Does God give all things we ask in prayer? Why not, it says if we believe He will? Because we ask not according to His will. We pray to God through Jesus Christ who interceeds for us. Do you think Christs hears the prayer of one of His own in trouble? By saying In Jesus Name it is not like a stamp on a letter that unless you close in His name He wont hear you, I don't think. When I pray my thought is this is going to my Lord Jesus, no one else. I often fall asleep praying. Does it not reach Him because I did not say in Jesus Name? I don't think so. Well think on these things. justme |
