Bible Question: Is there a way to find out if an evil spirit made you believe it was the Holy Spirit? I asked my husband (Mormon) to pray and ask that only the true spirit of God would speak to him and to come into his heart and he said that nothing became of it, but when he prayed years ago about the book of Mormon, he had a "burning in the bosom" and that is how he "KNOWS" the book of Mormon is true. However, I told him about the part in the bible that says that even a demon can present themself as a spirit of light. He continues to believe he is filled with the Holy Spirit. Is there any way that I can prove to him that he will believe that he doesn't have the true spirit? DD |
Bible Answer: Greetings DD! Anyone can have a 'feeling' that will be fleeting for only a moment. But, may I ask, how does the Book of Mormon stand up to such Scripture verses as Revelation 22:18-19 and Acts 17:11? The Book of Mormon has been examined and found in conflict with Scripture on many aspects, including itself. For instance, Scripture testifies that God does not change, for one thing [Mal. 3:6; James 1:17; Numbers 23:19; Psalm 90:2], and Mormonism teaches a doctrine of 'evolving Gods.' Also, take the King James Bible against the Book of Mormon. You will see where the Book of Mormon clearly plagiarizes from the KJV in.. "1 Nephi chapters 20,21- Isaiah chapters 48,49 2 Nephi chapters 7,8- Isaiah chapters 50,51 2 Nephi chapters 12,24- Isaiah chapters 2-14 Mosiah chapter 14- Isaiah chapter 53 3 Nephi chapters 12,14- Matthew chapters 5-7 3 Nephi chapter 22- Isaiah chapter 54 3 Nephi chapter 24,25- Malachi chapters 3,4 Moroni chapter 10- 1 Corinthians 12:1-11." (1) In addition to that, there is NO MANUSCRIPT evidence for the Book of Mormon. "Even with the Koran of the Muslims and with Hindu and Buddhist scriptures some evidence exists to determine a religious document's genuineness. ... This is not true for the Book of Mormon." (1) As for your present situation with your husband, I cannot think of any verse that would be more applicable than Galatians 1:6-10, where the Galatians have been found of subscribing to a "different Gospel."
