Subject: Biblical contradiction? |
Bible Note: Once again I thank you for your answer. However,I don't think that the two episodes can be connected in that way: in the Josiah story he was told by The Lord through the prophetess that he would die in peace and that was that. Jonah was told to "cry out against it (Nineveh); for their wickedness has come up before me." God always sent His prophets when preaching to a body of people with the messaage to "repent or perish" if you will, there was always a way back for them. In the case of Josiah it was a simple statement of fact to an individual, not a message of impending doom to a people unless repentance was forth coming. "Surely I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace etc..." 2Chron.34:28 |
