Bible Question: I don't understand the entire book of Jonah especially the last part. Why did Jonah want to die? Then God asked Jonah if he has the right to be angry? Then the Lord provided a vine to shelter him but then took it away? Then God asked Jonah again if he has the right to be angry about the vine? The the Lord goes on telling Jonah that Nineveh has 120,000 people that cannot tell their right hand from their left. Should I not be concerned about them? Why does he say that? |
Bible Answer: Jonah seemed to suffer from depression. This is a remarkable story that shows that the Lord is concerned about the people of Nineveh who were ignorant of Him. It shows that the Lord is concerned about all people even those who do terrible things. He ask Jonah to preach to them and many were saved. It is a beautiful story. Jonah as a prophet was to obey. It shows that the Lord can use all kinds of people for His glory. |
