Subject: Where in Daniel that supports this? |
Bible Note: Greetings Kathy, Don't worry, I have not been offended by any of your posts! :-) I like the statement of faith that you gave in your User Profile. As for the "Feast of Trumpets" (Leviticus 23:23-25; Numbers 29:1-6), which is today known as the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah, "the beginning of the new year" but not so called in the Bible)- taking place in September/October according to today's calendar- was a feast whose purpose was so that Israel could present herself before the Lord for His favor. This feast was characterized by a blowing of trumpets; that is, commemorating a memorial to God because of His goodness towards Israel, marking a solemn, joyful and urgent occasion, petitioning God to remember His goodness to the Israelites in the year to come. This feast, happening on the 1st of the seventh month, consecrated the seventh month (Sept/Oct) as a sabbatical month. The Feast of Trumpets finds its fulfillment in Christ in Matthew 24:31.. "And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." The Feast of Trumpets would prophetically refer to the future regathering of long dispersed Israel. "23:24 trumpets. The feast of trumpets, vv. 23-25, is a prophetic type and refers to the future regathering of long-dispersed Israel. A great interval elapsed between Pentecost and the feast of trumpets, answering to the period occupied in the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church Age. Study carefully Isaiah 18:3; 27:13 (with contexts), and Joel 2:1-3:21 in connection with the trumpets, and it will be seen that these trumpets, always symbols of testimony, are connected with the regathering and repentance of Israel after the Church Age is ended. This feast, which was held on the first day of the seventh month, Tishri, was immediately followed by the day of atonement." (1) I do not see any Scriptural evidence that would associate this Feast with the creation of the world.
