Subject: Scripture relating to U.S.A. |
Bible Note: Commentary....................................... Greetings Ihavefavor! Many people have been asking if the USA is mentioned in the Bible or not! In this post and in your post relating to Jer. 14 and 15, you have provided an excellent example of contextual interpretation. You mentioned Zech. 14:9. This is obviously an unfilled prophecy. It talks about the whole earth gathering together to fight against Israel. It talks about Christ physically descending to touch the Mount of Olives. So, it is perfectly acceptable to say that if the USA is still around when this prophecy is fulfilled that they will be one of the nations gathered against Israel - since all nations are gathered against her. However, in Jer. 14 and 15, the specific context concerns Judah, not the United States. Context is the key! The simple fact is that the United States is never mentioned by name in prophecy. If we are included, it is as one of the many nations only. So, it is impossible to point to specific Scriptures and say with certainty that the United States is the subject of the prophecy, especially when the context clearly identifies another nation as the subject.
