Bible Note: The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. Proverbs 18:15 Wisdom and this proverb teaches us “ The rich man's wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem.”, Proverbs 18:11 so to reach many of the rich you do have to ingratiate yourself to them. This may be hard to do because … the rich answers roughly. Proverbs 18:23 To do that ask yourself if you should even be involved in fund raising, in many cases we aren’t cut out for that. A man's gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men. Proverbs 18:16 If the idea of focusing your attention on those that can most benefit you then perhaps your letting yourself become angry and holding contempt for the whole situation, When the wicked comes, contempt comes also; And with dishonor comes reproach. Proverbs 18:3 Funding raising while I don’t prefer it is really nothing more than targeted marketing. You go to your target audience and sale them on the idea of giving you money. Some will give because they have learned it more blessed to give than receive and to share. Others will give because of the recognition they may receive. Others will give as an attempt to buy salvation. If your involved with fund raising the focuses or emphasizes the later two above then I think it is misdirected and can lead to Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before honor is humility. Proverbs 18:12 However if the fund raising is appealing to their desire to help others and share their good fortune with the less fortunate then I see nothing wrong with it. It still may be distasteful to you. In which case you may need to move on. Think of this way if you were selling cars who would you focus on? People that could afford to buy cars. That doesn’t mean you would put down or be cruel to those that can’t but you wouldn’t try to sell to them either. After work you can spend time with who ever you want. EdB |
