Bible Note: Greetings Clower00, Are you so sure that the motives of your employer are not out of righteousness? For our Lord Himself says, "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves." (Matt. 10:16, NASB). And in Luke 16:8-9, "The master commended the dishonest manager for his shrewdness. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light. And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous wealth, so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal dwellings." So again I say, are you so sure that the motives of your employer are circumspect, or accomplished through a spirit of division? What does it matter, as long as the Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached? Paul had no problem with how the Gospel was preached, just as long as it was preached, "What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice." (Philippians 1:15-18). Perhaps the best way in this situation to clear your conscience is to make sure that the Gospel of Christ is indeed preached! Blessings to you, Makarios |
