AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Kings 19:22 'Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice, And haughtily lifted up your eyes? Against the Holy One of Israel! |
Bible Question: The Hebrew for the phrase "Holy One" in this passage is the word qadosh. However, in Strong's the word is used only once for the phrase "Holy One," while the NASB reference I have indicates qadosh is used twice (for "Holy" and "One" respectively). So, which is it: one qadosh or two? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Chancellor! I am very rusty with my Hebrew! But, the best I can determine there is only one 'qadosh' in 2 Kings 19:22. It is the adjective 'Holy', and 'one' is listed in italics in the verse to indicate that it is not actually present in the text. So, the best way to view it would be to simply say that 'gadosh' has been translated as 'Holy One'! I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
