AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Kings 10:6 Then Jehu wrote a second letter to them, saying, "If you are with me and will obey me, take the heads of your master's sons, and come to me at Jezreel tomorrow about this time." Bible Question:
I know that earlier on it was prophesied that all of Ahabs descendants would die completely... (You are to destroy the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets and the blood of all the LORD's servants shed by Jezebel. 8 The whole house of Ahab will perish. I will cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel—slave or free. 9 I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah) but why did it have to happen like this. (Know then, that not a word the LORD has spoken against the house of Ahab will fail. The LORD has done what he promised through his servant Elijah." 11 So Jehu killed everyone in Jezreel who remained of the house of Ahab, as well as all his chief men, his close friends and his priests, leaving him no survivor.) why did God have the anointed king Jehu order that this whole descendant line of the old king DIE. why couldn't there have been a natural disaster or something so that we would know for sure that it could only have been from the Lord. I guess i am really questioning if this part was truly prophesied by God or not. Dont get me wrong I know that all scripture is God breathed and holy, but isn't it common that people mistake the voice of the Lord? Why did God have to use the king to kill all of those people? I just thought it was kind of sick how he asked for seventy human heads to be chopped off. Who would have to do that, and wouldn't they be scared emotionally? I dont know, i guess that has do do with the culture as well. what do y'all think? |
Bible Answer: There is a verse that says you reap what you sow. Ahab and his wife were the most evil except for maybe Manessah. They did evil time and again. They did not listen to the prophets. Had some of them killed. It is a dangerous thing to rebell against the living God. God asks us to obey Him. He has that right because He is the creator of all. If we chose to not obey Him we suffer the consequences. He is patient but there comes a time when His patience runs out and then we see His wrath. The point in this is that God is a God of love and has given us a path to be rescued but if we do not accept that path all that is left is judgment. No telling how many heads Ahab and Jezebel cut off so no its not scary. The people were relieved that the evil was removed from their midst. May God bless you. |
