Bible Question:
A dear friend (a nurse on her way to care for the patients who have no chance of recovery) died in an accident (while she was walking along the pedestrian path, a careless truck driver lost its control in a speedy turn thus caused the truck to fall onto her) few days ago leaving her husband with 2 very little sons at the age of 8 and 10. Unfortunately, the family are non-believers. I am going to attend her funeral, however I would like to write something from the bible for comforting the family. But my brain is blank at the moment and I cannot think of any suitable verse for the situation. Please help. Shalom Azure |
Bible Answer: Dear Sister Azure - My heart goes out to you in the loss of a dear friend, to the friend's husband in the loss of his wife, and to the two young sons in the loss of their mother. It is a tragic loss and made even more poignant because the family does not know Christ. ...... It's easy to find in Scripture words of comfort, solace and blessed hope for the family of a loved one who died in the Lord, but not so for the unregenerate. The only suggestion I could make, dear sister, is to speak to the bereaved family through the words of our Lord, who in Matthew 11: 28-30 issued the great invitation, as follows: "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (King James Bible). I pray that God will speak to this family through His blessed, inspired and inerrant word, and that they thereby will be drawn to His Son, the Savior. --Hank |
