Bible Question:
A dear friend (a nurse on her way to care for the patients who have no chance of recovery) died in an accident (while she was walking along the pedestrian path, a careless truck driver lost its control in a speedy turn thus caused the truck to fall onto her) few days ago leaving her husband with 2 very little sons at the age of 8 and 10. Unfortunately, the family are non-believers. I am going to attend her funeral, however I would like to write something from the bible for comforting the family. But my brain is blank at the moment and I cannot think of any suitable verse for the situation. Please help. Shalom Azure |
Bible Answer: Dear sister Azure, I am sorry to hear about such a tragedy. It is very sad indeed when an unbeliever dies in the sin of unbelief. We as Christians know what our Lord said about it, John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. It is very difficult in times like this to give comfort to grieving families of unbelievers. I was asked to attend a funeral service of a friend a few years ago, and I just sat there and said nothing, wile many people said lots of kind things about him, and said that he was happy now with God because he was a good person. Afterward I felt like I had denied our lord for not telling them that he was probably in hell, and they would go too if they did not believe in Him. Its easy to say nothing, I did it but I'm sorry I did. I pray for you my sister that God gives you the words to say what He want's you to say. May God give you wisdom, peace and strength. Love in Christ. God bless. John |
