Subject: Two prophets? |
Bible Note: Dear charis…Try again to understand the opposing position. Please. Linguistic Gymnastics are beneath you. You know the point Searcher is making. Why the Dance? Are you afraid of the weakness of the position you hold: That a prophet of God is still a prophet of God even if he declares “Thus saith the Lord…” and is shown to be wrong, incorrect, off the mark, unbiblical. The position is to me absurd. If you claim to speak for God, you better be right. What happens to the false prophet, the one who leads people astray? (Revelation) No other ministerial Gift makes that claim of speaking for God and you know it. Not a teacher, a pastor, an evangelical, or apostle. Even Paul took pains do write to Timothy that some of what he(Paul) was saying was of himself “…and not the Lord”. Would you consider a person who claimed the Gift of Evangelism and never, ever, led anyone in the direction to the Lord to be a true Evangelist (or are we not to judge?) And the Pastor who never, ever, led a church regardless of size but claimed to be a Pastor and that was proof enough that he had the Gift of Pastor? In my past life I would have said “Put up or shut up” but today I say TEST all things and RENEW your mind :-) Please do not seize only upon a single sentence found herein for a reply. Please speak to the spirit of the post if at all. What is disconcerting is that I once thought we were in agreement on this fine point of this debate. But if we can not agree on this single point of accuracy there is really little else to say. All doctrine is up for grabs. Christianity makes no stand. We can argue on endlessly on every point, regardless of Scriptural authority. We can make it up as we go along like a new age religion. We can even claim “secret” knowledge from now on. We impress not our Lord, and we play the part of the fool on the world stage. We search for God and find ourselves. Sad really. You know that I do not attack you on a personal basis. How could I? I have too much respect for you. But your position is…..well,……missing the mark. (And I think you know it) God Bless….Jensen |
