Subject: God is not the author of evil. |
Bible Note: Hank, I most certainly agree.. What nonsense is this: "Nothing can happen that He (God) does not cause to happen."???? God's sovereignty is taken to an exponential extreme here, and is shown to be something that it is clear not shown to be in Scripture. The Bible is full of passages that prove that the Lord does not 'superintend' our actions down to the very base level, and there is absolutely no Scriptural support for such a premise. Once again, we have a small, but very vocal "party" here on the Forum who continues to lobby their particular, extreme belief, to the chagrin of the greater majority who does not share their extreme beliefs, favoring an "unhealthy" focus on this belief over such fundamental Christian doctrines as Love (1 Corinthians 13) and Forgiveness. I would go so far as to define that as a 'cult.' But not only does the untrue and unScriptural statement, "Nothing can happen that He (God) does not cause to happen." fail to reflect the character of God, it fails to give us, or any missionary, any initiative at all to witness to others!! Now, if you think about that, how there are those Christians right now who are suffering pain, death, homelessness, estrangement, neglect, abuse, hunger and imprisonment, much like the Apostles, who believed it worthy to suffer in such a manner for His name in front of those who do not believe (and are therefore, according to Calvinism, lost forever anyway), then you see the great fallacy of this thinking, and that the end conclusion actually disobeys the Great Commission. To add to that, Calvin and Knox died peaceful deaths, never knowing the fires of martyrdom. Blessings to you, Makarios |
