AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Kings 2:4 so that the LORD may fulfill His promise concerning me, saying, 'If your sons are careful regarding their way [of life], to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and mind and with all their soul, you shall not fail to have a man (descendant) on the throne of Israel.' |
Bible Question (short): God's Promise to David |
Question (full): In verse 4, David says that God’s promise regarding David having a descendant on the throne of Israel was conditional on the obedience of these descendants. Yet in 2 Samuel 7:16, God sets no conditions on his promise – David’s house will endure forever. Why is there a discrepancy between the two descriptions of God’s promise? |
