Bible Question: This question came up in our small group bible study. Why do you suppose God made David wait 15 years before he became king. I could only suggest that God's time is not our time; we must learn patience; i had heard that he must wait a generation (I don't know why or if that's valid). Can you help me with something more definitive? Thanks -- Rick Mitchell |
Bible Answer: This is what I've learned from Erwin Lutzer. Mr. Lutzer quoted a man who said, there is a little of Saul in all of us, anger, resentment, jelousy, envy, pride, lust, disobedience, etc. Mr. Lutzer said God wanted to get the Saul out of David. Chaplin at Focus on The Family said. David was probably a better king having gone through what he went through. Mr. Lutzer said some people don't change untill they feel the fire. No specific verse, but we are His workmanship and His ways are higher than ours. |
