Bible Question: Then would it be correct to say there are 12 main tribes and 2 sub tribes (Ephraim and Manassah) Chusarcik |
Bible Answer: Hi, Chusarcik! I have posted on the 13 tribes: 12 sons, one whose name is removed and his 2 sons inserted in his stead... yet the tribe of Levi was separated by God and their main concern would be dealing with the Temple (then, tent) and all matters of worship; hence, Levi would not take part of the distribution of the land, nor of the daily activities of commerse, etc...; there would then have been only 11 tribes... this, of course, was known to God who granted Joseph's two Children (Ephraim and Manasseh) a position as part of the 12 Tribes... As Joseph and Ephraim are interchanged (Revelation 7:1-8), the one discrepancy I find is that Dan is left out and Levi is reinstated as part of the Twelve! I forget where it is found exactly... but was there not a Scriptural passage speaking on how Dan lost their land and they went to live with one of the other tribes?... Perhaps their failure to uphold the command to keep the land appointed to them caused them to be removed from the final listing (Revelation 7). God Bless! Angel |
