Bible Question: I was once heard that the Promise Land, was only an 8 day distance away. Is there anywhere I can confirm that information? |
Bible Answer: Foolishangel I assume you mean when the children of Israel were in Egypt that the promised land was about 8 days away. That is correct and may have been even shorter if they had taken a direct route. However God lead them on a longer route Exodus 13:17-18. Even when we consider this new route it would probably take them only as few extra days. However we see rebellion and the fact they God was dealing with them the time of their journey grew. Then they stopped at Mt Sinai, Exodus 19 and God kept them there for a period of time. Even then the trip wasn't all that long and had they trusted God and possessed the land they would have a relatively short journey. However as we know from Numbers chapters 13 and 14 the people sent spies into the land and from their report lost trust in God. God then sentenced them to wander in the wilderness for 40 years. EdB |
