Bible Question: Was Job written before or after the flood. |
Bible Answer: Shalom Glad2bcp, Welcome to the Forum!! What does CP stand for, glad 2 b what? Do you mind my asking? Now, to your question. There may be others with better information but I'll try to fill in the gaps till someone else can answer. It will just be human speculation, though :o) so don't quote me. The date, as far as I know, is not actually known but there are some things about the book that leads me to believe that it was written before the Exodus. The sacrifices were not according to the Books of Exodus or Leviticus, done by a High Priest, they were done by the head of the household, Job. His age matches that of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc. There is no reference to the nation of Israel, or to the Twelve Tribes, or to the Law of Moses. So it seems to be in the time period of Genesis after the flood (because of his age) to somewhere as late as maybe chapter 3 of Exodus, but I'd hold out for the time period from just after the flood's repopulation to sometime before Jacob's boys formed the 12 Tribes.
