Bible Question: Why does God love us? What is the scriptural answer to this? I know that John 3:16 (among several others) explans THAT God loves us. Why? I am trying to apply the Why3 method to the question "What did Jesus want?" My answer was "to save the world" from John 12:47 (among others) Why? #1 A: So that none would perish but have eternal life (paraphrase John 3:16) Why? #2 A: For God so loved the world... (John 3:16 again) Why? #3 This is where I get stuck. Why does God love the world? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Cynic, The answer is in the fact that the very essense of God is love, just the opposite of natural man. 1 John 4:6-8 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for GOD IS LOVE.
