Bible Question:
What was the mark that God put on Cain so people would not kill him. |
Bible Answer: The scripture in the King James Version states, "And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, venegeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lork set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him." -Genesis 4:15 I found a foot note on the work "mark" and it led me to a scripture found in the Book of Mormon. "And it came to pass that I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a dark, and loathsome, and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations." -1 Nephi 12:23 Now, I understand that this may irritate some of you because the verse implies that Cain became a person of color. You must realize that this mark set upon Cain was to shame him and set him apart from the righteous people of that time. Genetically, some people still carry the mark of Cain, but not the MEANING of it. I hope this has answered your question. :) |
