Subject: sins of father repaid by son? |
Bible Note: In Exodus 20:4 God is speaking of idolatry and those who worship other gods and then goes on concerning the curse to the later generations. I don't know anything better than to explain what has been my experience. So you may take it with a grain of salt. I went through a difficult time when I was seeking the Lord before I got saved. I experienced very strong demonic oppression and sometimes physical attacks. I thought I was having a nervous breakdown. Some members of my family in past generations had experienced mental illness. So, I told no one. I kept reading the Word of God...seeking after Him and did not let go and to make this as short as possible, I did repent and have a glorious encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. A year later I told my Grandmother about what had happened to me and about the Lord. She told me that I was just like her mother who used to have visions and sometimes help the police find dead bodies, that she read tarot cards, etc. It was very much the same kind of stories you hear about psychic's today. I had not ever gotten involved in drugs, I had not gotten involved in the Occult. But the experiences I had when I sought the Lord was very much like a person who was trying to seek the Lord and escape such problems and sins. Then I realized that what I experienced was because I was the 4th generation after a woman who had violated God's Law and had practiced the occult. The history of my family [parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles] was very much tortured. Jesus had delivered me and I was the 4th generation after such a thing. So you see, it's not exactly that He punishes innocent persons, but that the generations after such a person suffer because of learned behaviors and effects of being raised by such persons. But if you seek the Lord with your whole heart and you really want to know Him, you will find Him as I did. I was not special, and I was no better than any one else nor was I worse than any one else. But because I sought to know Him, He honored His Word and saved me. Just as well, He blesses those who raise their children in the Lord to the tenth generation. This also does not mean that none of those children will stray. But it does mean that He will go after them and woo them until they turn back to Him...to the tenth generation. I think that's fantastic. I hope this is not too long and is clear enough for you to understand. I could not shorten it any more than I have. |
