Subject: Eating meat with blood in it: Gen. 9:4 |
Bible Note: Kalos Thanks for responding. I have spent time in the Kosher meat market simply because I wanted to enjoy eating my meat and found in some cases more blood in some of the meat than was in the regular market. This said to me that because we Christians are so comfortable with our grace, we cause others who know nothing of our grace to violate their consciences. When one tries to overcome the effects of the laws of a land, that sometimes makes them targets of mischief, and I thought someone, i.e. disgruntled worker, was deliberately trying to sabotage what the Kosher meat company was trying to accomplish. I am not under law, I know, but under grace. If this issue was only about the Leviticus passage, I could accept this as a law/grace issue. Because of the Acts 15:20 and Genesis 9:3,4 passages, I do not see this issue as a law/grace issue. By the way, meat that is properly drained of its' blood content tastes much better than that which is not. I put this issue in the category of the Genesis 2:16,17 command to our foreparents. They couldn't bear one little prohibition. I see God subjecting the whole creation to groaning as noted in Romans 8:19-23, because of our sin, and giving us meat to eat is part of that groaning process. It seems to me God is saying to us in Genesis 9:3,4 respect that which gave that animal its' life, its' circulating blood. Good hearing from you and would love it if you have more to share on the above. Shaloam. Minjackson |
