AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 9:24 When Noah awoke from his wine [induced stupor], he knew what his younger son [Ham] had done to him. |
Bible Question:
Could anyone explain this verse, in its context, in more detail? I don't know why but it bothers me. As a youth I saw both my parents naked (on separate occasions, and totally by accident) and although I wouldn't describe the situations as pleasant (although they were quite humourous) I doubt either of my parents wished to lay a curse on me. Is there therefore a sexual connotation to this verse in this context or something similar? After all the 'offense' seems quite serious and the punishment quite severe. |
Bible Answer: when Ham saw the nakedness of his father, instead of him taking control of the situation, and cover him (his father), he wnt out and talked about it to his brothers and they handle the matter. Instead of looking at their father's nakedness, they went backward and covered thier father. So some time it is not what you do but the manner you do it. Ham was a gossipper I suppose, So If we cant fix a problem, maybe it would be better if we didn't talk about it. I don't think it was a sexual encounter there , and as far as your situation, from what you say it was an accident, now if you had taken the situation and blowed it our of porportion then that would be a different matter. I probly would not have even mention it to anyone , of course I guess your parents knew because they were involved, but I dont think they hold it against you. |
