NASB | Genesis 8:21 The LORD smelled the soothing aroma; and the LORD said to Himself, "I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 8:21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma [a soothing, satisfying scent] and the LORD said to Himself, "I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intent (strong inclination, desire) of man's heart is wicked from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done. |
Subject: destruction of earth |
Bible Note: I don't doubt God's existence or (impotence)omnipotence. But with global changes and threats of war, if all things were destroyed by nuclear / biochemical(hypothetically)...would that not make the bible falible...so I have to say to my son, (who asks me) "No, the world would not end, because if it DID that would make God either impotent or a liar and the bible in error." So, regardless if its CO2, sun spots, or farting cows...God will: "never again destroy every living thing, as I have done. While the earth remains" Gen. 8:21-22: Right? Can I say this to my son legitimately? Or do you have a better response to his query? |
