AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 49:10 "The scepter [of royalty] shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh [the Messiah, the Peaceful One] comes, And to Him shall be the obedience of the peoples. [Num 24:17; Ps 60:7; Ezek 21:27] |
Bible Question: What is the symbolism of Shiloh to the Lord Jesus Christ(Messiah)? |
Bible Answer: Shiloh by many interpretations means 'rest giver' or 'peace maker'. While there is discussion on the subject most Jewish and Christians theologians consider this a Messianic promise. One that in fact was fulfilled. Even though Judah was taken into captivity, a king from the lineage of Judah remained on the throne until approximately 4 AD when Rome finally decreed that Israel's leadership could not longer issue a death sentence on religious grounds. Further expansion of the this prophecy reveals Jesus is the rest giver, the Sabbath rest, Lord of the Sabbath and fulfillment of the Sabbath. Just as the children of Israel entered into the Lords rest by entering the promised land, we as Christians enter into the perfect rest of our Messiah as spoken of in Hebrews. EdB |
