AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:24 So God drove the man out; and at the east of the Garden of Eden He [permanently] stationed the cherubim and the sword with the flashing blade which turned round and round [in every direction] to protect and guard the way (entrance, access) to the tree of life. Bible Question:
Why did God block the way to the tree of life. Was he fearful that Adam and Eve would live forever if they could have access to it. If so what does this say about the soverenty and power of God? |
Bible Answer: Hardly can we say that God was fearful of man. He created man so exactly what would He have to be fearful of? Obedience is the answer to your question not fear. God had already given man access to everything in the beginning. It was mans disobedience that caused the problem. You ask why did God blocked the way to the tree of life? Take a closer look at Genesis 3:22 22 Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life , and eat, and live forever" (NASB) Notice it says "and now, lest he stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life , and eat, and live forever" The tree of life is not blocked brother, but man no longer has access to it lest he stretch out his hand and take from it. To gain access to it you must accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Man separated himself by being disobedient, but God provided man a way to live forever. Why would He do this if He was afraid of man living for ever? God's sovereignty and power are without question and cannot be challenged period. |
